Kate's First Post

This is my first post. I have a lot to live up to, Mark is an amazing writer.

First, thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. We are so blessed by all of your comments and prayers. Words could never describe how amazing it is to feel the prayers for our little family. This journey is the hardest thing we have ever faced. We could not get through this without our faith and the prayers and encouragement of family, friends, and strangers.

We covet your prayers for our little miracles. They have a long road ahead of them. They are little fighters, but they have many months of unknowns.
Also, please pray for my amazing Husband, he is going back to work tomorrow and is having a hard time knowing he won't be able to see the boys as much as he would like. He has been so strong over the last month, I am so blessed to have him.

So, here is an update on Max and Wes. Max had a successful picc line put in last night. He is now enjoying sleeping on his tummy because all the IV lines are out of his belly button. He also had a head scan(brain ultrasound) and it showed improvement with bleeding. Also, improvement in the area of his head that they think may have been a stroke. The doctor said that in six weeks or so they will know more about that. Wes has had an uneventful couple of days. They are still monitoring his blood sugar level, it has been pretty good lately but they are still giving him insulin to keep it under control.

Thanks again to everyone. We are so blessed to have all of you praying for us.

  1. You did a great job with the post, we missed reading about you all on Saturday.
We will keep praying that things will remain uneventful for Max and Wes. They are two amazing boys with two amazing parents. What a great family.
We love you guys and will continue to pray for you all.
Stacy (Geoff, Cassi, Evan & Sadie, too)

  2. Thanks for your post Kate! We'll keep praying for all of you, including Mark as he adjusts to being at work all day. Looking forward to Thursday! :)
    love, Heidi

  3. Nice post, Kate! Thanks for taking the time to keep us all updated:) That's great news about all of Max's improvements & Wes's uneventful few days! I'm sure having Mark back at work will be tough for both of you, so we'll be praying for the transition to go as smoothly as possible. We will also continue to pray for the "many months of unknowns" the boys have in front of them. The work of God in their little lives has been undeniable & incredible... He has great plans for your family!

  4. Hi Kate and Mark, My husband Jim and I have been lifting you up in prayer since we heard about your precious little miracles. We go to church with Adam and Tanya Westmaas. Our twin boys were born at 24wks 5days on March 30 one year ago. The journey ahead is one filled with so many things. A lot of unknowns, good days, bad days, but most of all your lives are forever changed by the unbelievable lessons the Lord will teach you.The strength in Him and each other that will hold so dear to your heart, the support of loved ones and strangers that will pray with you through it all. Please know that if we can help in ANY way along your journey let us know. Reading your blog, it shows the utmost faith you have in our Heavenly Father. Cling to that and one another! One day at a time and God Bless your AMAZING family. They are BEAUTIFUL little boys!
